Application of Analytical Probabilistic Models in Urban Runoff Control Systems’ Planning and Design: A Review

Urban stormwater is known to cause a myriad of problems, ranging from flooding water quality degradations. This paper provides an extensive review analytical probabilistic model (APMs) used in the design urban runoff control systems. APMs are closed-form mathematical expressions representing long-term system’s output performance derived probability distribution input variables. Once derived, easy handle, allow for sensitive analysis, and can be co-opted into optimization frameworks. The implementation APM planning systems will not only help address quantity problems stormwater, but also go long way optimizing benefits reviews studies that document negative impacts urbanization on quality, best management practices (BMPs) mitigate impacts. Three methodologies were reviewed. A detailed research development use various presented, recommendations proffered.
